Agapic is an All-Remote Company

All-remote means that, as an Agapic team member, you are empowered to work from anywhere in the United States with an internet connection. You’ll have the freedom to contribute when and where you do your best work. The “all” in “all-remote” means that this freedom applies equally to every Agapic team member.

It requires intentional effort to achieve all the benefits of all-remote work for team members and our company.

Where is the Team Located?

We hire great people regardless of where they live in the US. As a result, Agapic team members are located across the US.

All-Remote Communication

With Agapic team members across the US, it’s important for us to practice clear communication in ways that help us stay connected and work more efficiently. To accomplish this, we embrace asynchronous communication and stay as open and transparent as we can by communicating through channels open to all team members, such as GitHub issues and pull requests, and Slack channels. We also place an emphasis on ensuring that the conclusions of offline conversations are written down. When there is repeated miscommunication (for example, we go back and forth on a topic three times), we jump on a synchronous video call.

We communicate respectfully and professionally at all times.

GitHub, Google Docs, Slack, and Zoom are the primary tools we use to communicate.

Internal Communication

Unless there is a reason not to, most things are shared with the entire team because that is easier and more efficient.

Not Public

The following items are not public by default:

  1. Security vulnerabilities are not public since it would allow attackers to compromise Agapic products. We should make them public after we remediated a vulnerability.
  2. Financial information, including revenue and costs for the company, is confidential because we plan to be a public company.
  3. Deals with external parties like contracts and approving and paying invoices.
  4. Content that would violate confidentiality for an Agapic team member, customer, or user.
  5. Legal discussions are not public due to the purpose of Attorney-Client Privilege.
  6. Customer information is not public since customers are not comfortable with that, and it would make it easier for competitors to approach our customers.
